In July 2007, the European Commission (EC) carried out inspections at the premises of several producers of hardware for windows and doors. Window mountings are mechanical metal parts used to open and close windows and window-doors. Regulators found that the cartel participants agreed to common price increases between November 1999 and July 2007. The cartel participants were located in Germany, Austria, and Italy, but the effects of the collusion were felt throughout the European Economic Area.
- The EC imposed fines on nine companies totaling almost €86 million.
- Roto was given full immunity for alerting the EC to the existence of the cartel and providing valuable information to prove the infringement.
